Dr Jon Skinner, talks about CIDG at our public meeting.

Its finally here, the wait is over!
Dr Jon Skinner, our clinical lead, talking about CIDG at our public meeting last year in The Langham, Auckland.

The purpose of this event was to raise awareness and discuss cardiac inherited disease/sudden death in young people in NZ.  This was the first meeting we opened up to the public and we invited patient’s, whanau, friends and health professionals to join us for an evening where we heard stories from some amazing families regarding their experience of inherited heart disease, sudden death and it was an unique opportunity to meet with other families who share similar stories. We also heard from some health professionals about treatment options that are available for patients affected by inherited cardiac conditions.

Here is a short video of Dr Jon Skinner talking about the Cardiac Inherited Disease Group and the story behind our moto:  Detect. Protect. Enable.

We could not have wished for the evening to turn out better, the room was filled with much aroha and for many of us it was a career highlight.   Due to the positive feedback from patients, whanau and health professionals  we are planning another meeting this year in Auckland on the 17th September. Please keep an eye out for updates, we hope to see you there.

You are  welcome to contact us with suggestions of what you would like to see at this years meeting.
